Franka Hörnschemeyer was born in Osnabrück in 1958 and currently lives and works in Berlin. Her most recent solo exhibition, titled "MAN SON 1969. The Horror of the Situation," opened at the Hamburger Kunsthalle in January 2009. Other recent solo exhibitions include "Peenemünde," Jewish Museum, Athens (2008) and Aufenthaltswahrscheinlichkeit/Residence-probability," Galerie Nordenhake (2006). Notable public projects include "BDF - bündig fluchtend dicht", Deutscher Bundestag, 1998-2001; "PSE 900", Kunsthalle Hamburg, 2000; "TSE 11022", Hamburger Bahnhof Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin, 2002. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, most recently including "Positionen: 1979-2008, vom feministischen Aufbruch tur Normalität," Fabrikhalle, Darmstadt (2008) and "Ideal City - Invisible Cities," Brandenburgischer Kunstverein Potsdam (2006), which was also on display in Zamosc, Poland. Hörnschemeyer is the recipient of numerous grants and prizes, most recently the Fellowship of the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds (2006).
